Wolverines Grabs Lead In Sixth Inning For Victory Over Beachwood
Wolverines ran off with the lead late in the game in a 5-4 victory over Beachwood on Friday. The game was tied at two with Beachwood batting in the top of the sixth when Kay singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Wolverines pulled away for good with two runs in the sixth inning. In the sixth Travis Velba was struck by a pitch, driving in a run and O’Neill induced Anthony Formichelli to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Austin Walker got the start for Wolverines. The pitcher went five innings, allowing two runs on one hit and striking out four.
Owens led things off on the mound for Beachwood. The bulldog went three and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out five. O’Neill and Dubin entered the game as relief, throwing three and a third innings and one and one-third innings respectively.
Max Dunbrook, Ty Boze, Nick Paulic, Ricky Platt, Lino Valletta, and Armen Maksoudian each collected one hit to lead Wolverines. Platt led Wolverines with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with four stolen bases.
